How does it pick totals?
You enter your bill, and Tip Hunter looks only inside the tip range you'd already leave. Within that window it finds totals that belong to one of nine "species" — palindromes, primes, Fibonacci numbers, perfect squares, and more — then ranks them by how rare they are. You always choose which one to pay. It never nudges you to tip more than you intended.
Does it work in my currency?
Yes. Tip Hunter supports US Dollar, Canadian Dollar, British Pound, and Australian Dollar (USD · CAD · GBP · AUD), with more on the way. You can set your default currency in Settings, and each specimen remembers the currency it was caught in.
Is my data private?
Completely. Tip Hunter collects no personal data, has no accounts, and never sends anything to a server — there are no servers. Your field guide of caught numbers lives only on your iPhone. See the privacy policy for the full plain-language details.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 18 or later. Tip Hunter is iPhone-only for now, and it's a one-time purchase — no subscription.
Can I add my own dates?
Yes — the Personal Date species lets you add birthdays, anniversaries, or any year that matters to you. When a total matches one of your dates, it becomes a catchable specimen with its own keepsake color.
